New start:

This is Rose on Fire SK, that I got as another freebie chart from HAED for the half year SAL they started in July. Yes, it has taken me a bit to get round to starting, but at least I managed to join in the last SAL weekend of the year with it.
Here's what it'll look like completed:

And just for good measure here's what Sapphire looks like at the mo too:

I nearly forgot! We bought the first season of True Blood a few weeks ago. I have to admit I really don't like Anna Paquin (sp?) as Sookie Stackhouse. She played Rogue in the X-men movies and when Q told me that she played Sookie, my first thoughts were that she would be too "young". After seeing her in it, I don't feel much different really! Thankfully, unlike the books which are told from Sookie's point of view exclusively, the TV show isn't. Of course this I gives other characters much more fleshing-out. In the case of Jason you get to see just what a dumb-ass he really can be. :)
The opening credits are perfect for the show too. "I wanna do bad things with you." I think that about sums it up. :D
I will continue to read the books and enjoy them and try not to compare the TV show to them too much, as it is enjoyable too if you don't take it too seriously.

I really just don't know where the weeks are going lately. I've been in pre-Christmas rush mode. Between doing some fairs selling my goodies and working on new recipes lj is not the only thing that been neglected.
New recipes are fun though. Especially the eating part... I was asked to make a yule log by one of my customers, so that took a bit of tweaking. I was also asked to do more different cupcakes. I have so far made the following: carrot, red velvet, lemon angel food and strawberry. The carrot and red velvet were both just cut-down versions of large cakes I already make, so that was no problem. The lemon angel food ones weren't so good. The strawberry ones had mixed reviews. The flavour I think was undoubtedly good. But the cupcake itself seemed a little heavy. I also feel it had a short shelf life. Probably because it used REAL strawberries.
So the experiments will continue, time willing. I have a new recipe book too!!! The Hummingbird Bakery book. I think I want to try at least half the recipes in there. *Drool*

Stitching has been slow going too. Not helped by the confetti area I'm at right now on Sapphire (their faces). Been meaning to take Day dreaming to the framers this week and last. But she's in the dining room out of sight, so I never remember to pick her up.

I had a really good surprise the other week, in that I got a back payment from Working Tax Credits for last year. Had a bit of a splurge and bought some new drawers and TV unit for the bedroom...A small flatscreen TV to go with the unit... Oh and an iPod! I only had a really small 512mb mp3 player and I just didn't use it that much because I was always having to change the music on it. Well 8gb may not exactly hold my whole music collection, but its got most of it on there! I had forgotten I must have gotten rid of my Stereophonics CDs a while back (guess I had a reason at the time?) because I couldn't find them when I ripping my CDs. May have to re-buy them now...

I thought my cakes (in particular the novelty/celebration ones) needed a blog of their own. So they've got one!
It's not much just now, I suppose my intention is to make an entry with some details on each creation. I don't *really* want to go back over what I've done as its hard to remember exactly what was done...Or is it just laziness? ;)

First up is the new watercolor painting I found this morning. :)

Next is the two acrylic paintings we dropped off last week for the Save the Children Exhibition at our local gallery.

Just finished it tonight! WOO!
Day Dreaming Fairy QS
It's stitched 1 over 1 on 28 ct jobelan.
I'm now planning on doing a bit of Christmas stitching. I need to do something for a gift exchange on Stitch and Craft. I'd also like to make a couple of biscornu's for gifts and I also kinda want to stitch the Margaret Sherry design that was in recent issue of Cross Stitcher. It's a dog wearing reindeer antlers. It's not imperative I get it done though, so we'll see how things go.
On the reading front, I decided to get "Dead until Dark" by Charlaine Harris. I've heard some good stuff about the TV show True Blood that is based on these books, so figured I'd read one while waiting for it to come out on DVD. I'm quite liking it really. It's about a waitress, Sookie Stackhouse who has a "disability", she's a telepath. Vampire's have come "out of the coffin" since the invention of synthetic blood. Enter Bill, who's thoughts she can't hear. Bit of love story going on, but there's also the murders... Maybe you could call it Twilight with teeth? Oh and sex. ;)

Warning - contains spoilers!!!
This was my first HP movie that I'd read the book already. I must say I was a bit disappointed. I know they can't possibly fit everything that was in the book in the movie, and most of the other movies I've felt are fine with the omissions. The main things I felt were lacking were firstly the Harry/Dumbledore scenes, this to me was the main part of the movie (tbh, the half blood prince isn't relevant to the story really!), Harry is learning about Tom Riddle so he can take out Voldemort basically, and they cut out at least 2 of the "memories". Was also disappointed that there wasn't actually a fight at the end too. In a way you could ask "why were the death eaters even there?". I mean Draco's supposed to kill Dumbledore, and the point of him fixing the vanishing cabinet (or so I thought) was so the death eaters could attack the school. So they just breeze in, watch Dumbledore die, break some stuff in the great hall and leave.
I guess I'd like to see some kind of extended version (bit like what they did for LOTR), but obviously thats not going to happen now. Instead they'll just make the final movie in 2 parts, milking it for all its worth and maybe include everything??
